Brief CV
I was born in Oporto, northern Portugal in 1957. I participated as a leader in the Youth Catholic School and I was militant and leader of the Socialist Left Movement. Several training courses in theater and participated in street theater. After an initial training in teaching, I was A coordinator of several projects for cultural activities in poor neighborhoods of Lisbon. I was also director of amateur drama, amateur filmmaker, photographer and animator of the Portuguese Association of Photographic Art. I emigrated to Switzerland in 80 years of the twentieth century as a kitchen helper. I graduated in Sociology at the Higher Institute of Labour and Enterprise in Lisbon. After several professional experiences related to local development projects and municipal planning in Tras-os-Montes, I began to develop my teaching in the Department of Sociology at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Minho in 1989. I participated as national coordinator and researcher in several national and European projects research. I was one of the coordinators of a European network of summer schools. I have collaborated for about seven years with the Minho University Radio in a weekly program in addition to participating in various projects and exhibitions of ethnographic photography that resulted in publications. Participated in several summer schools in England, Denmark, Italy and France and also attended a course on the Theory of Actor-Network held at the Univ. de Lancaster. Lancaster. PhD in sociology at the University of Minho with a dissertation on the technique at the present time, "Individuation technique at present" under the supervision of Prof. Moisés de Lemos Martins. More recently, I develop a post-doctoral work on the new digital social networks in CECL (Centre for Communication Studies and Languages) Lisbon and I am a researcher at CECS Center of Communication and Society Studies at the University of Minho). I published several publications about the phenomenon of technology in society, the actor-network theory, digital social networks, etc. namely the book "The appeal of the technical object" (Porto, Campo das Letras, 2006). During the year 2011, I was one of the organizers and participants in the "First International Symposium on "Ecosophy in Digital Era "" held at the University of Minho.

Breve Currículo
Nasci na cidade do Porto, norte de Portugal em 1957. Participei como dirigente na Juventude Escolar Católica e fui militante e dirigente do Movimento de Esquerda Socialista. Fui alfabetizador em bairros pobres do Porto no âmbito da acção do SAAL. Fiz vários cursos de formação teatral no Grupo dos Modestos e no Seiva-Trupe tendo participado em espectáclos de teatro de rua. Após uma primeira formação no ensino, fui coordenador de vários projectos de animação cultural em bairros pobres de Lisboa. Trabalhei como inquiridor e realizador de testagem de questionários em várias empresas de sondagens e estudos de opinião. Fui igualmente encenador de teatro amador, realizador de cinema amador, fotógrafo e animador da Associação Portuguesa de Arte Fotográfica. Durante um ano, fui emigrante na Suiça nos anos 80 do século XX como ajudante de cozinha. Licenciei-me em Sociologia no Instituto Superior de Ciências do Trabalho e da Empresa, Lisboa. Após diversas experiências profissionais ligadas a projectos desenvolvimento local e ao planeamento municipal em Trás-os-Montes, comecei a desenvolver a minha docência no Departamento de Sociologia do Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade do Minho desde 1989. Participei como coordenador nacional e investigador em vários projectos nacionais e europeus de investigação. Fui um dos coordenadores de uma rede europeia de Escolas de Verão. Colaborei durante cerca de sete anos com a Rádio Universitária do Minho num programa semanal para além de participar em vários projectos e exposições de fotografia etnográfica que resultaram em publicações. Participei em várias Escolas de Verão em Inglaterra, Dinamarca, Itália e França tendo também frequentado um curso sobre a Teoria do Actor-Rede realizado na Univ. de Lancaster. Doutorei-me em sociologia na Universidade do Minho com uma dissertação sobre a técnica nos tempos presentes: “A individuação técnica na actualidade” sob a orientação do Prof. Doutor Moisés de Lemos Martins. Mais recentemente, desenvolvo um pós-doutoramento sobre as novas redes sociais digitais no CECL (Centro de Estudos Comunicação e Linguagens) da Univ. Nova de Lisboa sendo investigador no CECS (Centro de Estudos Comunicação e Sociedade da Universidade do Minho). Tenho várias publicações acerca do fenómeno da técnica na sociedade, a teoria do actor-rede, as redes sociais digitais, etc. destacando-se o livro “O apelo do objecto técnico” (Porto, Campo das Letras, 2006) já esgotado. Durante o ano de 2011, fui um dos organizadores e participantes no "I Simpósio Internacional sobre "Ecosofia na era digital"" realizado na Universidade do Minho.
